Small Batch Concrete Succulent Pots - Just Succulent Pots

Small Batch Succulent Pots. Hand Crafted in Bend, OR

The Just Succulent Pot Story

a riveting tale of cement, silicon molds, & succulent pots!

It would be awesome if I could tell you this amazing story about how my family history was in succulent pots, and that this business has been handed down from generation to generation... but that's simply not the case.

Here's the real story.

I'm Collin. Hi, I'm a web developer!

All of my work to date can be found online, but I've always wanted to create something tangible and use my web developer status to sell whatever I was making online. For a while I was growing bamboo out of beer bottles, then thought about herbs in mason jars, told my kid I would help him build the next great slime empire... that never happened.

Then I started thinking about making something with cement. I would peruse amazon for hours, looking for silicon molds, and I kept seeing molds for these little pots. Eventually I decided it was time to stop perusing and start buying... becuase I got an amazon gift card. I intially ordered three, in January 2019.

A quick trip to Home Depot for cement and supplies. I was in business!

Oh boy, those first pots... they were a special bunch. Looked like I had spent too much time on Pinterest... and 'nailed it'. My ratios of cement to water changed every batch. The curing time was taking 12 hours... for the Micro Pots! I could only make 2 rounds of pots in a day, and the results were not consistent.

This was anything but a business. However, the reactions to the prototypes were positive, my Instagram account was gaining followers, and most importantly.... I was enjoying myself. I knew if I was going to make this work I had to start streamlining processes. I looked at different types of cement cured quicker, I purchased a digital scale to make sure my ratios of cement to water were exact, and I actually wrote down the recipies. I looked around my office one day and all I could see were succulent pots, silicon molds, and boxes of cement.

Now, a few months later, and a few too many late nights and I'm on the eve of launching Just Succulent Pots to the world. I guess this is really just the beginning of my story!
